Residents from all walks of life serve on the City’s commissions, committees, and boards. Each commission plays an integral role in assisting the City Council with improving the quality of life for its residents, providing public services and responding to the community's needs. Commissioners must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment and a resident of Bellflower. Planning Commissioners also have to be qualified electors of the City of Bellflower. All of the commissioners are also subject to the City's Code of Conduct and the Political Reform Act, which requires the filing of Statements of Economic Interests.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month in the Council Chambers at City Hall. They are appointed by Council Members to four-year terms concurrent with the Council Member who appointed them.

Public Safety Review Committee
The Public Safety Review Committee meets at 6:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of February, May, August, and November in the Green Room at City Hall. It is comprised of Neighborhood Watch Captains and the Public Safety Commissioners. The current committee members are: Sharon Dobbins, Dr. Ted Edmiston, Michael Gatiglio, Julia Moreno, Elena Singeorzan, and Russell Thompson.
Bellflower Public Facilities Corporation
The Bellflower Public Facilities Corporation (BPFC) meets once a year on the fourth Tuesday of September. The Board Members are: President Allan Morse, Vice President Alan Gomez, Secretary-Treasurer Leo J. Struiksma, Director Rick Cook, and Director George Franzen.
Design Review Committee
The Town Center Design Review Committee only meets when needed to discuss newly submitted planning designs. The current committee members are Wayne Brown and Mike Herda.
Oversight Board for Dissolved Bellflower Redevelopment Agency
The Oversight Board for Dissolved Bellflower Redevelopment Agency meets on the first Tuesday of each February and September at a time and place to be determined by the Executive Director.
